Napoleon Nelson, a candidate for State Representative serving District 154 covering Cheltenham, Jenkintown, and Springfield, purchased his first home in Cheltenham Township in 2003. He has been active in the community, the Cheltenham Democratic party and civic leadership ever since.

In 2007, Napoleon began serving as a Committeeperson for the Cheltenham Democratic Committee and in 2009 was honored as Committeeperson of the Year. He currently serves as the 2nd Vice Chair of the Committee.  He was elected in 2011 to the Cheltenham School Board, chaired the Finance and Personnel committees, and served as president of the Board. In 2017 he ran and was elected as Cheltenham’s Finance Officer. As a full-time elected official, he had to step down from the Cheltenham School Board, but his advocacy for public education found a new avenue for service. He was appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Montgomery County Community College in 2018, where he continues to fulfill his commitment to preparing the young people of our community for careers and continued education with vision, fiscal responsibility and managerial professionalism.

Napoleon grew up in Mt. Airy and is a proud member of Central High School’s 257th graduating class. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Napoleon is a finance professional with more than 16 years of business experience in investment analysis, planning and analysis, and corporate strategy. He worked for Vanguard, Driven Brands in King of Prussia, and SEI Investments. He founded Market Literacy Project, a venture that created financial literacy materials and lesson plans to help students develop skills to be better consumers, producers, creators and business leaders.

Napoleon married his high school sweetheart, Shareese. They have two teenage children who attend Cheltenham Public Schools. He and his family are members of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church and very active supporters of Cheltenham’s youth sports programs.

Napoleon is a firm champion for the role of government in our lives, and wants to go to Harrisburg to protect and improve our public schools, our community ecosystem, and show everyone that Democrats are the best stewards of our tax dollars!
